MALTBY DESIGN® PUTTER LIE ANGLE DEMONSTRATOR

In researching putter playability, Ralph Maltby was able to determine that an effective loft of 4 degrees is ideal under most putting circumstances. Having loft in the putter is only part of the equation. This Lie Angle Demonstrator clearly shows what happens to the direction the ball travels after impact when the lie is not set properly. The putter face has an aluminum rod representing the path the ball travels away from the face. The demonstrator clearly shows that, as lie changes for a right-handed player, the direction of travel of the ball veers left if the toe is up and right if the heel is up.
