This Belt Sander is perfect for abrading steel shaft tips and removing polyurethane coating from graphite shaft tips before reshafting heads. Features a tilting work table that makes it easy to set the angle for grinding off through-bore shaft tips perfectly every time. Also features a dust collection outlet for connection to a dust control vacuum system — a big plus considering the dust shaft prep work creates! 1/4 hp, 2 amp, 110 VAC, 60 Hz motor runs at 3,450 rpm. I used to use a Dremel to prep shaft tips and that worked okay. I got a GolfWorks 1x30 belt sander because I thought it would be quicker and more efficient. It was both. It has speeded up my shaft prep process and made it more tollerable (my least favorite part of the clubmaking process). I recommend this tool for the more serious amateur club maker.
NOTE: I found that by placing a "dustbuster" or my wet or dry vaccuum's hose next to the work area of my belt sander, I was able to control and minimize the dust created by the shaft preparation process.
